AN ECLECTIC LIBRARY: Unusual Books On Line.

New in the Library.

Rerum Britannicarum Medii Aevi Scriptores;

or, Chronicles and Memorials of Great Britain and Ireland During the Middle Ages. This enormous undertaking published hundreds of historical documents from medieval times, in Latin, Middle English, Norman French, Irish, and other languages. Our collection is now more or less complete, missing only two volumes in a set of hundreds.

Age of Exploration.

A new page of original narratives and histories of explorations, from the Norse discoveries in America down to whenever we decide to close the subject.

Bibles.

Possibly because we have so many printed copies cluttering up the old manse, it has taken us this long to add a page of Bibles. We begin auspiciously, with excellent scans of the original printings of both the King James Bible and the Douay-Rheims Bible.

The Golden Legend.

Caxton’s translation is now on the Saints’ Lives page: a scan of Caxton’s 1483 edition, one of Wynkyn de Worde’s 1527 edition, and a modern-spelling edition from 1900.
